From the Educational Software Cooperative blog:

Starting February 1, 2009 the Educational Software Cooperative will launch the ESC Software Marketing Book Club.

Each month, we’ll discuss a marketing book in detail. The central theme of each discussion will be: How can the ideas in this book help software developers make their businesses more successful? The discussions will be open to all ESC members.

ESC Software Marketing Book Club

An interesting idea, and it’ll be interesting to see how it works out – both for existing members of the ESC and as a means of attracting new members.

Around three months ago I took out a subscription to getAbstract:

getAbstract offers you the largest online library of business book summaries. More than 5,000 of the latest and most relevant business books – each summarized into five pages. Learn the key points of a book in just 10 minutes. From Finance to Management, Sales to Careers – you’ll never miss a trend!

It’s a great means of discovering good business books and also picking up new ideas without having to wade through hundreds of pages.

Why did I join? Because I read a large number of business books. Some are excellent sources of new ideas and information, but most contain only one or two points of interest. So I went looking for a more efficient means of finding good reading material.

I’ll be watching the ESC’s Book Club with interest.
